CARI PRIVACY POLICY

CariCab, LLC (“Cari,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your Personal Information when you interact with our mobile applications, websites (including www.cariapp.com), products, and related services (collectively, the “Applications”).
Unless covered by a separate policy, this document governs all Cari users worldwide.

Key promise. We do not sell, lease, or otherwise share Personal Information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing, advertising, or promotional purposes.


1. Definitions

“Personal Information” means any data that identifies, relates to, or can reasonably be linked to an individual or device (for example name, email, government-ID number, payment credentials, precise location, or biometric data).
Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in our Terms of Service.


2. Personal Information We Collect

Information you provide directly Name, address, phone, email, date of birth, government ID, vehicle and insurance details (Drivers), payment-card or bank info, photos, messages sent to support.
Automatically collected IP address, device identifiers, mobile-OS version, browser type, cookie IDs, usage logs, crash reports, real-time geo-location (when the app is open or a trip is active), telemetry from in-app navigation.
Transaction data Ride / delivery details, pick-up & drop-off points, fare or donation amount, payment method, wallet top-ups, withdrawal records.
From third parties Identity-verification or “Know Your Customer” (KYC) vendors, payment processors, background-check providers, partner platforms where you choose to link an account.
About third parties you supply Contact numbers you upload to use chat or referral features; emergency-contact info you save in the app. Please obtain those individuals’ consent first.

We may collect additional data when permitted by law and only as needed for the purposes described below.


3. How We Use Personal Information

We process Personal Information—always proportionally—for the following permitted purposes (“Purposes”):

3.1 If you are a Rider / User

  • Create, verify, manage, or deactivate your account.

  • Facilitate ride or delivery requests and process payments or donations.

  • Send trip receipts, alerts, and service messages.

  • Provide real-time navigation, safety features, emergency assistance, and customer support.

  • Maintain and improve the Applications, develop new features, run analytics, and prevent fraud.

  • Send Cari-branded promotions or surveys (never third-party marketing; you may opt out at any time).

3.2 If you are a Driver / Service Provider

  • Onboard and verify eligibility (including KYC, background, and vehicle checks).

  • Relay user requests, show navigation routes, and calculate earnings.

  • Disburse payments and generate tax or earnings statements.

  • Monitor service quality and provide performance feedback.

  • Send Cari-branded updates, incentives, or surveys (opt-out available).

3.3 All Users (General Purposes)

  • Operate internal business processes, audits, and accounting.

  • Detect, investigate, and prevent prohibited or illegal activities.

  • Comply with legal obligations, law-enforcement requests, and regulatory filings.

  • Facilitate corporate transactions (merger, acquisition, or asset sale) while applying this Policy.

  • Generate de-identified or aggregated data for statistics, research, and product improvement.


4. Sharing of Personal Information

We may disclose Personal Information only under these circumstances:

Recipient Reason / Legal basis
Drivers ↔ Riders To fulfill a requested ride or delivery (e.g., names, pickup location, phone masked via relay).
Service providers acting on Cari’s behalf Hosting, payment processing, SMS delivery, fraud detection, customer support, analytics. These providers are contractually bound to use the data only per our instructions and never for their own marketing.
Affiliates (CariCab group entities) Internal processing to operate or improve the Applications under terms that mirror this Policy; no affiliate may use data for its own marketing outreach.
Government authorities or law enforcement Where required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect vital interests, public safety, or legal rights.
Corporate transaction counterparties In connection with a merger, sale, or restructuring—subject to confidentiality and continued protection consistent with this Policy.
Insurance partners Solely to process a claims request you initiate.

We do not sell, lease, license, or otherwise share Personal Information with any third party or affiliate for their independent marketing, advertising, or promotional activities.


5. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies and mobile SDKs to remember preferences, keep you logged in, measure usage, and improve performance.
We do not permit ad networks, social-media platforms, or other third parties to track you across sites or apps for advertising purposes while you use our Applications.
You may disable cookies in your browser or device settings, but certain features might not function.


6. Retention

We keep Personal Information only as long as necessary to fulfill the Purposes or as required by law (e.g., tax, accounting, regulatory, or safety requirements). When retention is no longer justified, we securely destroy or de-identify the data.


7. Your Rights: Access, Correction, Deletion, and Withdrawal of Consent

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Access a copy of Personal Information we hold about you.

  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

  • Delete data or object to processing (certain legal or operational exceptions apply).

  • Withdraw consent for specific processing activities.

Contact privacy@cari.cab (see § 13) with your request; we may need to verify your identity first.


8. Cross-Border Transfers

Cari operates globally. Personal Information may be stored or processed outside your home country by Cari personnel or vetted service providers. We take steps to ensure any cross-border transfer complies with applicable data-protection laws and that recipients provide comparable safeguards.


9. Security

We implement administrative, technical, and physical measures (encryption in transit, access controls, regular audits) to protect Personal Information. No system is 100 % secure; please safeguard your password and device, and notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.


10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the Applications, website, or email. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.


11. Acknowledgement & Consent

By creating an account, using the Applications, or otherwise providing Personal Information, you acknowledge that you have read this Policy and consent to the practices it describes. If you provide data about someone else, you confirm you have their permission to do so.

You may withdraw consent at any time (subject to legal or contractual restrictions) by contacting us; note that certain services may then become unavailable.


12. Marketing & Promotional Communications

Cari may send you service updates, offers, or promotions by push notification, SMS, email, or phone. These messages come only from CariCab, LLC or vendors acting on our behalf. We never share your Personal Information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing.
You can opt out at any time via the “unsubscribe” link, app settings, or by emailing us.


13. Anonymous & Aggregated Data

We may create and use de-identified or aggregated data sets (stripped of direct identifiers) for research, analytics, and product development. Such data cannot reasonably be used to identify any individual.


14. Third-Party Platforms & Links

Our Applications may link to external sites or services we do not control. Their privacy practices govern data you provide to them. Likewise, if you enable device biometrics (e.g., Face ID) for app login, that biometric data stays on your device or your device maker’s cloud—not with Cari.
